Why isn't BF4 getting any hype on the PC?

I'm hyped when my download of Metroid Prime finishes. Now that is Battlefield 4 for me.

What makes BF4 different? It looks really close to BF3 to me. Seems like EA is just pulling a Call of Duty...

Your problem is that whole "looks" thing. Screenshots and videos don't tell you much worth knowing. When you actually *play* both games for any length of time the differences become extremely apparent. Movement feels completely different, suppression is completely redone, the class balance has changed pretty massively as have the loadouts, the TTK is faster though it's still slower than BF2 and a good portion of it might not be numbers so much as the new suppression making guns more accurate in general. The maps are more interactive, more vertical, and more varied. We've got new game modes, commander is back, the VOIP is actually half decent though I'll still probably mute it in favor of private servers... I could lecture for the rest of the afternoon probably.

Basically anyone prattling on about it not changing is either oblivious as all hell or hasn't done much more than look at screenshots.

What value Battlefield had was before BF3.

^this. I don't like the direction it went. It's a good game but it just doesnt excite me in any way or feel fun.

I honestly just prefer more tactical shooters at this point in my life. Trying to 4v1 deffuse a bomb in counterstrike will always get my heart pumping more than mindlessley sprinting around in BF4 with endless expolosions. It's played out.

For some reason I enjoyed BC2 over BF3. The sounds were more realistic as well.

Less vehicles and smaller, more properly scaled maps for the player count most likely

Origin sucks. I'll never go there.

No bots, no buy anyway.

I don't get why anyone would ever want to play multiplayer against bots if they could help it. To each their own I guess.

I've never missed a BF release, all the way back to 2002. BF4, however, is extremely underwhelming to me for some reason. I didn't enjoy the beta that much either.

DICE lost the trust of many veteran players with the debacle that was BF3. I'm going to wait and see how the game looks a week or two after launch.

Hopefully Battlefront isn't too far off.

Yeah this is something. For some reason I'm just not as hyped for BF4 as I was with BF3. BF3 is a good game but I really feel like this is more of a DLC and a new patch.

bought bf3

expected 5 year game life time, better destruction, full pc bf experience

got the beginning of yearly bf rehashes (bf4 announced less than 1 year after bf3 release), toned down destruction, toned down console lead platform, no voip, cod style monthly $15 dlc, premium service cash grab

nope not falling for it again wont be buying bf4 expecting everything to be better (it wont see: cod)

1. Expecting 5 years before the next game came out was just silly for anyone remotely familiar with the series. There's been a new BF game within two years since day one, sometime a whole lot less. I think Vietnam was out for all of three months before BF2 was announced. That doesn't mean no one will be playing BF3 when BF4 comes out though. People still play 1942, BF2, BC1 and BC2 quite regularly.

2. The destruction *was* improved in BF3, you're just not leveling the entire map worth of shacks.

3. Yeah, the map scaling was an issue due to both console player counts and them allowing server admins to be idiots

4. "DLC" is nothing new to the series. 1942 had two expacs costing about the same together as a premium package while offering less in the way of content. BF2 had a paid expac and the other two were sold at retail, BF2142 had a paid expac too. So yeah, unless BC2 was your first and only game in the series you should've expected paid expansions going in.
