So I have 6 Ben Franklins to spend on a new video card...

Wassup PC board? Since the dawn of next-gen is upon us, I thought this would be a perfect time to upgrade my graphics card, since I'm not really interested in the consoles until FFXV and KH3 come out (yeah I'm a JRPG nerd). I am not PC spec savvy (you could say I'm a n00b when it comes to the hardware) but that is why I turn to you. My current card is a GTX 570 and it has been with me through thick and thin for the past couple years (bought a PC off iBuyPower). I have about $600 to spend on a new card and was just wondering what card would give me the most bang for my buck (pause). I do not have any affiliation towards nVidia or AMD so either or is fine with me.

Oh yeah, another thing, my CPU is i5-2500k @ 3.30 GHz (4 CPUs), ~ 3.6 GHz and my memory is 8MB RAM (can you tell I'm just copying this from my dxdiag search?), so would I need to upgrade any of those before getting a new video card?

Thanks again for any help.

The R9 290X is currently looking to be your best bet. It'd be smart to wait for any new Nvidia SKUs or price drops though.

Get one of your Ben Franklins to invent something amazing, kill him and steal the invention, then sell it for mad money. Then wait and buy the R9 290 radeons when they come out soon.

The statement below is true.

You've got 6 cases of syphillis to cure, too. Ben Franklins aren't useful if they're dead.

Can your PSU and motherboard support two GPUs?

If so, you can get:

$400 for two 7950s and get $40 back later from rebates, you would also get your choice of six free games from AMD's Never Settle promotion

$600 for two 7970's (non-Ghz Editions, which can typically be OC'ed to the same performance of the more expensive Ghz Editions), and get $40 back later from rebates, you would also get your choice of six free games from AMD's Never Settle promotion

$80 for second 570 on Ebay. The low VRAM will be an issue sooner or later for you (if not immediately), but you will still get a lot of power for a very cheap price.

Your CPU and RAM are perfectly fine.
