The same way fighting game netcode, Ikaruga on XBLA, Touhou 9, etc work...

Looks like a low priced, cheaply made, old, arcadey shootemup. Why does this create any sort of joy? The game looks like the equivalent of throwing an old penny on the ground and leaving.

It's only one of the most critically acclaimed bullet hell shooters ever, no big deal. If you don't like the genre, that's fine, but you're just being ignorant right there.
