Learning Blender and importing models into game engines is easy, it's just that Minecraft players would rather spend hours doing something useless than spend the mental energy to learn new things.

By that logic, we should be making our own games with RPG Maker or some similar tool rather than just play RPGs that are already available. People play video games because video games don't require much mental focus. If the people who play Minecraft really wanted to get serious about making models or video games, then they'd do that.

Only if the object of the RPGs you were going to play is to create an RPG. Otherwise, you've completely missed the point, because you got angry and jumped in to fitfully defend your game.

Instead of creating in game. Create outside of the game, because it is actually worth something. It's pretty good advice.

Not sure where you're getting me being angry from. And I don't play Minecraft anymore. I'm just pointing out that people don't usually want to have to learn something to have fun. Minecraft doesn't require much learning since you can do whatever you want. That's part of why it's one of the most popular games today. The cool thing about Minecraft is that it's as deep as you want it to be.

I'm not surprised you're in this topic. Minecraft is a pretty casual game and you're about as anti-casual as anyone on this board can get. But I get it, that's your schtick. You're special in your own little way Shadow, and this board has come to appreciate that. We won't kick you out of PCH.

When reading this thread it seems Minecraft is really, really serious business. Something along the line of world hunger.

I oversee an afterschool program with elementary grade kids. Once I found out that all of them play Minecraft I lost any interest in ever trying the game out.

Because a game that can essentially be played as virtual legos, a children's toy, appeals to children?

What the hell is wrong with you? Are you one of those people who doesn't understand the idea of something appealing to multiple demographics?

Heh, by the tone of your post it seems like my comment offended you. Maybe we should explore why xanthan. Do you want to talk about it?
