Top 10 PC games of all time

#1Julian_CaesarPosted 10/22/2013 7:07:28 PM
1. Star Control 2 (Ur-Quan Masters)
2. X-Com: UFO Defense
3. TIE Fighter
4. Fallout
5. StarCraft: Brood War
6. CounterStrike
7. Knights of the Old Republic
8. Half-Life 2
9. Jedi Outcast
10. Minesweeper

Discuss. Especially #1, because its free to play and if you haven't played it then you really, really need to do so. Because if you go into it with even the slightest open mind toward less graphically capable games, it will blow you away.

I'd say your first five are all serious contenders for "best game ever," and Star Control 2 is a indeed an underappreciated game - it's really difficult to categorize, really difficult to describe, probably not at all a landmark title in any particular genre, and a masterpiece that everyone should play. It beats the hell out of Mass Effect for certain.

The rest wouldn't be anywhere near my top 10, and I don't consider Minecraft to be a game.

In no particular order, and without listing any two games that are too similar to each other, I'll throw out:

Deus Ex
Planescape: Torment
Grim Fandango
Half-Life
Fallout
DOOM
Baldur's Gate II
Civilization II
StarCraft
Max Payne

All these lists do is point out how different all our tastes are. That and indicate with relative accuracy, how old we are.

I couldn't make a list like this because I still enjoy new games all the time and rarely go back to the classics. I don't dwell on the past and instead look to the future. Yeah yeah, new games are trash and casual city, blah blah blah. I'm happier than you clearly.
