What is the best CPU a LGA 1155 supports?

Just wondering. I have a core i5 2400, and want to get a good CPU I can overclock.

Thanks. So I'am guessing Haswell chips won't fit on my motherboard? Also will there be any significant increase in performance from a Core i5-2400 to a Core i7-3770K?

What chipset is your motherboard? Youll need z77 chipset for overclocking.

Here's a performance comparison between the two processors:

All Haswell processors utilize the LGA1150 socket. So no, a Haswell processor will not work.

The chipset is indeed important, but P67 and Z68 would also work, not just Z77.

Unless you want a new motherboard, don't bother getting haswell though.

It's Z68 which supports overclocking.

And so does Z77. Z77 came out for Ivy Bridge while Z68 came out for Sandy Bridge, but they both support the same CPUs, from a Core i3-2100 to an i7-3770K, including your i5-2400.
