Upgrading GPU

#1Andres888Posted 10/24/2013 5:43:57 AM
Hi, I need some help deciding what GPU to upgrade to. My budget is around 300. I don't mind whether if its AMD or NVidia.

I have been looking at the R9 280x and the GTX 770. I also need help deciding which manufacturer to go with. I have heard good things about MSI and Gigabyte.

I am looking for a decent and noticeable upgrade from my 6870's and also to get ready for the next gen games. Any help will be much appreciated.

There's little reason to buy AMD at the moment. NVidia has roughly the same price/performance ratio and has minor advantages in reliability and PhysX. I'd go with a GTX 770.

As for the manufacturer, there's little difference between MSI and Gigabyte. Both are good. Go for the best warranty and price.

Cool. Although I have been looking at the GTX 770's, there is a price increase for the the 4GB version which goes outside my budget. They go for about 350. Is it worth spending the extra cash to get a 4GB or will a 2GB version be enough? Just as a note I am also gaming at 1080p.

You don't need 4GB for 1080p.
