Suggest a new motherboard CPU combo please

Well my motherboard is starting to poop out on me ( ofcourse right before BF4 comes out ) so I need to replace it. I guess this could be a blessing in disguise cuz I wanted to upgrade anyway but just never pulled the trigger

Anyway could I get some suggestions for a good motherboard and CPU to go with it.
I don't know what price ranges are like but I have about $500 to throw at it.
I only use my PC for gaming but I'm big into Battlefield and I know that can be CPU intensive. Oh and I'm not really an over clocker but I can if it would really help

Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks :)

I usually wouldn't recommend an i7 for gaming but it seems like gaming is going in the direction that 4 cores won't be enough and you have the money to spend so I figured it would be a good idea.
