#1sonicteam2k1Posted 10/24/2013 9:20:10 AM
have an i5 3570K, looking to go to an 8 core CPU. And I would like to keep my same motherboard as well. What are some suggestions? my board is a ASUS P8Z77-V LK. can this boards socket fit a 8 core CPU? I'm trying to check ASUS website but it's begin very slow.

hmm interesting. looks like I'll be upgrading to a new board if I want an intel 8 core CPU...

also when does proper 8 core CPUs come out for intel? the haswell I think it's called?

edit: damn never mind, I google it and it seems haswell-e isn't due out until 2014. sheesh.

Yes, you will need an LGA 2011 mobo. There are already proper octocore Intel CPUs, such as the Xeon E5-4650

what's the best octocore for the money? I want something 8 core from intel that outperforms the i5 3570K at stock.

Xeon is very expensive, and limited to BCLK overclocking

best bet is 3930k or 4930k

Yep, not happening, sorry. Your socket is outdated and I don't foresee Intel releasing 8-core CPUs for the mainstream market anytime soon, even on a currently supported socket.

cool man thanks. I'll be sticking with ASUS boards though because of the Q connector. I'd def be looking to upgrade to the 4930K with my next build. 6 cores but that will work for me.
