I haven't heard of Shaw as a PSU brand, but a quick search says it has a reputation as pretty much the absolute worst PSU brand available in Australia. There seem to be lots of stories of failing Shaw PSUs destroying computers. It would be a stupid, expensive risk. Rather than looking at an $18 680W PSU (lol), you'd be looking at the full cost of your computer, vs. buying a halfway decent PSU.

Looking closer, it doesn't even look like they're saying it's 685W - the naming they use just tries to fool you into thinking it is. That's barely even a 300W based on the sticker (I'd call it a low quality 200-250W myself), so they're awfully shady for putting the 685 in the name, since the standard naming convention is for that number to reflect the wattage.

Seriously... I'd avoid that POS like the plague.

You want it to look just a *touch* more along these lines:

So yeah, I'd say that's bad. Like, unheard of bad. I've seriously never seen a PSU with ripple that bad.

A good sign of the apocalypse maybe.
Or perhaps just a residential fire to be.
