I can Max most games at 720p with a single HD 6850, that includes a dash of AA at 60fps.

best bench I could find

3dmark11 is 720p, but it has a lot of tessellation too

they are neck and neck really

I think Ati cards still do AA better

Just use this as a baseline and then take into account that 720p is half the number of pixels of 1080p so your actual performance numbers will be a good bit higher.

Anyone game at 720p?

Close.

I game at 1360x768, and I have the same card you had. I can play almost every game at 60 FPS, and with everything maxed out, but I normally don't use AA (I don't like the blurriness) and shadows.

I don't have a budget, I just want to kno which GPU is good enough but not overkill for that resolution/settings

There is a vast ocean of cards that can do 720p. You need to narrow it down with a price range.

Don't get a 650ti boost. All it is is a 650ti with a 660's memory interface, the 650ti's memory interface was a bottleneck at 1080. At lower resolutions the two cards will perform identically. The boost was advertised as a card meant for medium-high at 1080, so I'm sure the 650ti can handle 720 with little to no trouble.
Every time I try to go where I really wanna be it's already where I am, 'cuz I'm already there
