I've run out of ideas on how to fix this. I've reinstalled drivers after completely cleaning out the old ones, I've switched PCI-E slots, played around with settings. There's really no other explanation than faulty hardware now is there? Son of a b****.
The thing that makes me think it's software related though is that switching from speakers to headphones and back in the sound card's control panel fixes it, temporarily. Very temporarily recently
