Asus motherboard w. digi+ claims 100% cpu frequency boost? under what conditions

#1WyzeGyePosted 10/26/2013 5:44:59 PM
80/80

Was just looking up the specs of my motherboard and came across the evo edition.

And has a feature as described in the topic title. Now when I upgrade my phenom 2 to a 8350 would I realistically be able to over clock it to 6+ GHz, provided it had proper cooling?

Seems like a pretty farfetched claim.

No. My asrock 9 got it to 4.8ghz but any higher would require better cooling. And I would not trust that usus mobo past 4.4 ghz

edit: I sounded like a dick when I posted. So I cleaned it up.

Yeah, I sounded like a dick and removed it. My friend has the same mobo on his 8350, but as I said, dont expect much out of it. Get the sabertooth or the extreme 9. I can vouch for mine as a great board, except the sleep feature do not work on it.

So... How can they claim that? I always stuck Asus up near the top of the list of of companies that don't blue marketing smoke up your ass

If it doesn't offer any significant gains over what I've currently got, I don't see the point of even swapping the mobo. If my phenom can hit 4.2 I'm sure an 8350 will overclock just fine

I still say get a asus sabertooth or a extreme 9. The formula V is overkill.

If you've got a LN2 setup, sure.

I guess it's possible, but you'd need to get an exceptional chip and some serious cooling. That said, I'd go for a more premium board if you were going to attempt such an OC.

It claims a 100% performance boost, not a 100% frequency boost. Either way, it's still a ridiculous claim.

Frequency =/= Clock rate.
