Will GFWL games still be playable post-shutdown?

Capcom's said they'll do something for their games.

No word on what exactly but they've still got till July of next year to do it so not exactly hurting for time yet.

Oh, cool. Dead Rising 2 is a Capcom game, isn't it? Maybe then I can actually play the game I bought without needing my goddamn parents to make a GFWL account.

If you need your folks to create a GFWL you shouldn't be playing dead rising 2

How would you need your parents to make a GFWL account? I can't think of a single thing that realistically would stop anyone, though it's been a while since I made an account... I don't remember it asking me any personal details that would have given away my age...

Hell, when steam asks me for my birthday I put in Jan 1, 1900 (or 1901 in cases where 1900 isn't available). Steam says they're not going to keep that info anyway (and I'm well over the legal age to drink).

It always seemed stupid to me to basically ask people "Are you old enough?" and when they say yes, they basically say "ok I believe you because nobody would ever lie on the internet."

The one that is gonna be trouble is Dawn of War 2 since you actually have to logged in to GFWL to play it. However I think most GFWL games will play in offline mode, like Fallout 3 and GTA 4, so they probably won't be as much as a problem.

I wonder if From will patch it out of Dark Souls. Seems kind of doubtful, given that we barely got the port as it was, but then again, with Dark Souls 2 coming out soon and it not being GFWL, there might be hope.

They might think that DS2 is good enough and just release that as a "Oh, well spend more money on this one, it's new and better."

Except, after playing the beta, I've got mixed feelings about that.

Codemasters say they are working on a solution, but no details as of yet. I Assume they are just converting the games ti steamworks, as their newest releases have been steamworks.

I'm more concerned about small studios like Timegate with the Section 8 games.

I'm not worried about capcom or codemasters, im sure they'll fix it

Timegate is essentially dead at this point, so I wouldn't hold out on a Steamworks conversion.
