GTX 780 Overclocked beats R9 290X Overclocked. Dealbreaker for you?

Or were you for some reason never interested in the R9 290x?

According to Linus, the R9 290X is already aggressively overclocked out of the box. So it would seem to me that that is the reason behind benchmarks showing the R9 290X beating the 780. Then again, the 290x Linus has is OEM model with a bad cooler and temps. dictate the 290x's performance a huge deal.

Do the new features (Mantle, TrueAudio, GCN architecture, 4GB Vram etc.) still make the card an attractive option to you?

Personally, I hope the R9 290 will come out at a lower price or the release of the 780ti prompts a GTX 780 price drop.

At max overclocks without throttling it's faster though.

Mantle and TrueAudio is the only thing that entice me, not to mention that price. However, Like Linus in an earlier video, I am waiting for non-reference and see how their review is like. I am wishing for the Sapphire Vapor-X/Toxic or Asus DC2 version. If I don't like, at least the 780 is going to be knocked down in price.

I'm happy with my 7950 atm, so I'm not too interested in the 290X. But once the nonreference coolers start to come into play, I presume it's going to trade blows quite nicely with the 780 once both are overclcoked. And since it's a bit cheaper the 290X seems like a pretty neat deal for very high end systems.

Expected/10.
r9 290x is a hot and loud chip. It's not one or the other, it's both, and that means it needs some beast cooling. DirectCUII is likely going to be the best model to get for getting decent results out of it.

All this shows is that the reference cooler sucks. What else is new?

The more expensive card should beat the cheaper card

Not a single game out yet that's worth getting either for though

The cooler on the 290X sucks. I really hope we get some good non-reference coolers. The reference one is something like 42dB at idle. Unacceptable.
