My friend bet me his computer that his TV can display 600 fps.

Every plasma is marketed at 600 hz refresh rate when it can only go up to 60 fps for games. Anybody who knows anything about plasma tv's knows this. I am sure he is going to give you his really expansive computer setup if he even has one and you're not just making it up.

If it only shows 599 fps he should throw it in the trash.

Prediction:
He points to the TV specs where it says "600Hz" and declares himself the winner. You say that's stupid and point out that Windows will only accept 60Hz for this display. He says it doesn't mean s*** and again points to the specs. You both walk away pissed off at the other guy.

Sounds about right.

But the tpoic title doesn't mention input only the screen output so interpolation counts. Having said that its likey just a 60hz plasma with a 600hz sub firld drive.

his tv is probably on 60/120 or 240hz. It will be a sad day for him.

Nah if its advertised as 600hz I'll almost guarantee it's a plasma. All plasma's refresh at about that speed. What it really means is that there are 10 sections of the screen each updated at 60hz. These subfields help with fast motion by basically removing any trails/persistence that plague slower lcd screends.

Pretty much, got an LG Plasma that marketed it as 600mhz , thankfully I researched heavily on avsforums and knew what that really meant.
