Use a lead pencil to straighten them out.

i told him that already but he wants to know if it doesn't work, will you know right away? like will the computer even but on if its damaged? that's his main concern. i don't know because I've never dealt with the problem. was hoping someone could fill me in

Its a risk your friend needs to take... Most likely everything will work fine if the pins are straightened.
