Use the starter platinum on slots (weapon or warframes, choice is yours), unless you're not averse to buying platinum.

Remember to upgrade your mods (when you get them). Save some credits and duplicate mods for that.

If you think you need more defense, upgrade redirection and vitality. If you think you need more damage, upgrade serration/hornet strike for damage against any faction, armor piercing for grineer, electrical damage for corpus, and fire damage for infestation.

While ranking up your warframe does make it a bit stronger, rank 30 is virtually the same as rank 0 if you don't upgrade your mods when you can.

Like the first reply post said, use platinum on slots. Which slots depends on what is more important to you, but I suggest buying 1 warframe slot and 4 weapon slots (they come in 2s).

Find a program that will keep you up to date on alert missions. These alert missions will give you stuff that'd be otherwise only obtainable through paying.

Teaming up with at least 1 other person can make things a whole lot easier. (Clans is one way to go about this)

That's it for now. Have fun.

1) upgrade to the regular Braton as soon as you can. That will last you for a very very long time. Its a no frills weapon but gets the job done

2) do Apollodorus a couple times. Its a very good spot to stock up on mods, got serration (weapon damage+) there a few times . Gets insane at the 20 min mark so watch out. sidenote, if you lucky the 20 min-25min reward can net you some powerful mods like focus/streamline/serration/ammo mutation.

3) don't waste platinums buying weapons or frames. Only spend platinums on slots/reactors/catalysts/formas. everything except a few items can be gotten ingame without spending 1 cent.

4) if you do want to buy platinum wait till you get a discount coupon from daily login reward before buying, 20%, 50% and even 75% off.

To be honest, vitality pales compared to fast deflection at high levels. Not bad to have it as well, but if you're needing a slot, you're usually going to be better off leaving off vitality. As for elemental attacks, you can simply stack cold, fire, and electric on the weapon in addition to armor piercing, the damage done overall plus adding slow from cold outweighs elemental resistance.

Also, TC, did you pick Mag, Excalibur, or Loki? If you picked Mag, ignore Crush and level up her other abilities first, Pull is a great ability even at high levels and shield polarize can do some damage there as well.

If you picked Excalibur, you should focus on Slash Dash, although Radial Javelin is useful on bosses if you have a friendly Mag. Super Jump is fun when maxed out.

Loki? Don't go solo with him until you've gained some levels and decent guns, he is difficult to use and none of his abilities deal damage, even his ultimate just strips away the enemy guns. But his decoy is quite useful once you know how to play.

How do you level up Cards? Combining them with other cards?

Yes, combine them with either a duplicate card or a fusion core. Fusion cores can be used on any mod, and are what you will be using to level them. Usually I find the most fusion cores on survival missions or Kappa in the Sedna system (which also happens to be a really good spot for xp, I recommend either playing missions to get to Sedna or ask someone to invite you there).

Also, if you really want to get the most out of your stuff, get an orokin reactor for warframes, and orokin catalysts for weapons. They double mod points. They don't pop up all that often unless you pay plat though, so think hard on your choices. I wouldn't slap a catalyst on any of your starter weapons either, save them for clan weapons or a Soma.
