Are there any "newb friendly" tutorial guides for Civ 5? Its overwhelming.

I get overwhelmed by all the data/stats there are. There's all kinds of randomized resource hexagons that fill the map with symbols and icons. I have no clue what's going on. Also knowing the NPCs are preparing their empires while I'm making non useful decisions frightens me.

Game isn't that complicated, especially since its turn based and you can take all the time you want.

By default, you should be constantly getting little pop-ups from your advisors telling you about stuff that's happening. If you try to run through the little links they give you to the Civilopedia (ingame help) you should have an acceptable-enough time learning how the game works. So long as you play on the default difficulty (chieftain), you shouldn't have too much trouble and learn how the game works after 1-2 games.

This, plus I played a tutorial round at first. You just have to read all of the stuff in order to learn. It is a bit much, but the game is so worth it.

The noob tutorial is actually playing the game. It's not that complex.

There you go. The game is actually very simple. I picked it up within a day, and normally strategic games frighten me. Much of the fun is had by learning how to do things yourself. Try to pick different world sizes, shapes, difficulties, and amount of civilizations. I'd start out small and easy. Have fun!
