Perhaps my GPU is in fact, dying.

I recently posted this topic the other day and not a few moments ago this happened when exiting a game. (Red Alert 2). Although before jumping to conclusions, perhaps I should swap out cables? This issue seems to happen the most when exiting games. For example, my screens black out when quitting Bad Company 2 / Vietnam, and now this when leaving Ra2. Every now and then it will randomly black out on desktop. This is the first time seeing this weird messed up looking screen and I could only do a hard reset to fix. Task manager had the same affect.

Sadly, I got this GPU last June (Sapphire 7850 2GB). Is it time for to purchase a R9 290x?

Hmm... it's weird because there are no problems now, or while actually playing games. Only when exiting in and out of games. There were no problems from the modern games I just fired up. Perhaps HDMI is just crap, I never have a good time with HDMI.

Monitor 1 = DVI.
Monitor 2 = DVI to HDMI.

Oh I thought you just wanted a reason to buy the latest and greatest... My bad :P

You know how to troubleshoot. No one here is better equipped to give you a diagnosis :)

Edit: Have you ruled out the monitor? That sort of artifact looks a lot like a scaler chip being messed up.
