AMD vs Intel CPUs

#1Dynast_KingPosted 10/27/2013 10:44:56 PM
Why is it that everyone seems to recommend Intel over AMD when AMD processors are not only cheaper, but more efficient as well?

A little comparison:

Intel quad CPU:

AMD 8-core CPU:

The AMD is better at everything and it's considerably cheaper!

Depends on the workload. Single threaded applications, amd gets destroyed. Heavily multi threaded, the situation reverses and amd starts looking much better vs the Intel competition at the pricepoint.

And before anyone brings up the power costs, it's about the difference of a large supreme pizza per year

Are you sure you understand what efficient means? Also, higher numbers do not automatically equal better performance. If you don't understand how things work don't make topics about them unless you're asking about how they work.

The i7 is undoubtedly the faster chip, but costs a hundred bucks more. That's not insignificant to consider for some
