Steam and patch notes

#1dekouPosted 10/29/2013 8:19:37 AM
Is anyone else really annoyed by Steam's lack of official patch notes? Just now my Arkham Origins got patched. What did the patch do? Who knows.

Posting official patch notes every time a game is updated really shouldn't be that hard.

Nope.

Most games do either on their forum or in the news section.

Everything related to patching is what I still hate the most about Steam.

-Inability to revert to the patch of my choosing (a VERY VERY big deal, as far as I'm concerned)
-Even when you disable auto update, games still randomly update without your consent (or the settings reset)
-Patch notes have a dedicated page or what it looks like it to tell us the various patches and what they do... and they're always empty.

Needs a lot of work there. Every patch should also have a manual prompt that demands if I want to patch and shows me the log. All this stuff should be easy as pie.

Most people prefer automatic patching but I guess they could add a setting to prompt for patches.

I really don't care whether I get prompted for patches, but easy access to patch notes would be nice. I would also like to know what version of a game I am currently running, as that info is not always available in the game itself, and right-click | Properties on a game's executable does not always yield version numbers corresponding to how the developers call their version numbers.
