CoD: Ghosts 6 GB RAM requirement is a joke, right?

#1ReconMWSPosted 10/29/2013 11:58:04 PM
I'm operating on 4 GB till January. My motherboard has lost its mind and will only allow 4 GB RAM to be utilized. The other 3 slots will not work and I'm not too fond of 8 GB sticks.

So, I've just got the one 4 GB stick till I upgrade my rig in January.

If the game truly requires 6 GB RAM, will my PC just not run it, or what? I still have a hard time believing it REQUIRES 6 GB RAM.

I've never not met the minimum requirements for a PC game, so I'm like O_o

I think you'll be fine. Yes, you'll be able to play it. Don't worry. Most spec requirements are speculation. At least until the game comes out.

Either way, though, you will be able to play it and probably play it fine as well depending on your setup.

i5-3570, XFX Radeon HD 7770.

When January comes, I'm doubling down on PC gaming, with a $1200 budget to work with. Looking to pick up an i7 and at least an R9 280x (preferably an Nvidia equivalent, some GTX 770 or possibly a GTX 780 if I can swing it).

With that budget, man, I'd go with the 290X rather than the 280X. That's just me, though.
And by then, the 780ti will be out. So it may be the better choice over the 2--x series. Perhaps. We'll just have to see.

waste of money going with an i7 so soon from a 3570.

the only thing currently holding you back is the gpu so feel free to splurge on it... that along with an SSD will do wonders for your setup.

I've been contemplating just keeping the i5-3570, but I do a lot of video editing and recording, so I figure it could help out a little bit.

Also, I'm essentially building a whole new rig, case and all. Only thing I'm keeping is my HDD. I know how to clean and apply thermal paste off the CPU, so I might just skip the i7 for now if it interferes too much with my GPU upgrade. I really wanna get nasty with this next GPU, so the i7 definitely isn't set in stone.

You still have swap file for those last 2 gigs. This isn't a console where your computer dies if it runs out of memory.
