Topic, in my region these two cards are very comparable in price after the price drop and I am wondering what you guys have to say about which is better value, specifically these two cards;

I know AMD has some pretty interesting technology coming up and with both "next gen" consoles sporting AMD hardware I assume that AMD will generally get better optimization. Also I also know that AMD=FINISHED and Nvidia is god tier and all that mumbo jumbo.

Benchmarks put these cards at a very similar performance (1080p, which I play on) but I am wondering if the extra GB of VRAM in the 280X will be useful if I don't plan on upgrading my monitor anytime soon.

My price range is exactly $400 so it's pretty much out of these two, unless there is a better option that I am unaware of.

Thanks in advance. (Rest of specs are in sig)

I am actually deciding which one to get as well. Probably I will go with the GTX 770 because I tend to like Nvidia more but I dont really know. I would really like to see some opinions, so free bump.

That 280x has better cooling for a well vented case.

680 vs. 7970?

Mostly comes down personal preference.

Oh and also I dont know if the R9 280x comes with games but the 770 right now has a sweet bundle with Assassin’s Creed:Black Flag, Splinter Cell: Black List, and Batman Arkham Origins.
