Couple of PC gaming questions.

Heya so I have a couple of questions as related to a gaming PC and I'd hope you guys can answer them. ^_^

1. How good is an i7 processor and about how much longer will it be decent for gaming before I'd be forced to upgrade to something else?

2. I currently have a Nvidia GTX 560-Ti GPU and wondering if I'll need to upgrade to something better to go with the i7 cpu or if it's perfectly fine?

I'm not expecting to to get maxed out on everything, but it would be nice to have games running at 60fps with at least 2x AA and some degree of Anistropoic filtering. :)

Oh, and thanks in advance for the answers. ^_^

i7's great. I think the majority of people on this board recommend the 3770k. I think.

Anyways, what games are you looking at playing?

The one that is sent to me has a 4770 in it and I'm guess I wouldn't be able to swap it out for a 3770k.

Too many to count really, but off the top of my head:

Skyrim (with hi-rez dlc pack hopefully)
Fallout 3 (using the "standard" hi-rez mod thing)
Fallout: New Vegas
Sonic Generations
Silent Hill Homecoming
Resident Evil 5 (and 6 if it's on PC)
Dragon's Age
Dragon's Age 2
Kingdoms of Amalur
Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Bioshock 1, 2 and Infinite
Dead Space 1 - 3
Mass Effect 1-3
Doom 3
Serious Sam First and Second ecounter and BFE
Duke Nukem Forever
Potentially World of Warcraft (this is the one game that has cause me great frustrations in trying to obtain constant 60 fps and part of the reason I've gotten into upgrading to a more gaming friendly PC)

And whatever else I find that captures my interest.

Also as far as my monitor set up I currently have a 1440 x 900, but I have also ordered a 1080 monitor, but until I get that one in, it'll be the 1440 x 900 in the meantime. Also I don't really plan to do more than maybe 2 x AA and 2x of the other one (can't remember exact name) since when I've tried higher I can't see the difference so I feel like it would be pointless to go higher since I'm not able to personally tell any difference.

I do plan to get a GTX 760 during tax season and I get my tax return, but until then I'll be stuck with this gpu specifically.

No reason you'd want to.

Still a pretty decent video card though you could certainly see improvement by getting something newer.

The longer you wait the better options that will be available to you.

Oh I'm sure, it's just at the initial looking at cards I'd be able to get a GTX 760, but if something better comes along at a similar $250-300 price then I'll get it, I won't be getting a new gpu until February anyway. :)
