How would a GTX570 handle gaming on a 2560x1440 display?

My current specs are:
i7 930
12GB tri channel ram
ASUS GTX570

I'd really like to get a Dell Ultrasharp 1440p display. Would my graphics card be able to handle it decently for games? At the moment, I can run any game I've tried on high to max settings on 1080, but would the higher resolution put more strain on my card? I'll be running dual display with a 1080 when I'm not gaming as well. Also, I'm not ready to upgrade my graphics card yet.. based on the benchmarks I'm looking at, anything but the GTX780 or Titan will only give marginal improvements over the card I'm running so I'll either wait for the next gen of graphics cards or wait 2 or 3 years and build a whole new computer (my current one is 3 and a half years old and it's aged extremely well, so I can definitely get another few years out of it).

Not that well. Maybe ok for 2009 and before games at hopefully being able to get a solid 30fps or higher. Besides Crysis and Crysis warhead

Poorly, based on your specs.

I wouldn't leap at a GTX 780 just yet either: 1440P pc gaming is very demanding, hardware wise, meaning you'd have to consider rebuilding your entire system for it. Minimum 3GB of GDDR5 is required at 1440P, and not even the Titan can handle 1440P at 60FPS on the most demanding PC titles.

I personally would rather wait for the GSYNC monitors. Seems to be like a better evolution in PC gaming than 1440P gaming.

Wait for 780Ti.
Though, going from a 570, even a 670 is a pretty big step up. 780 is something like a 70-80% improvement?

I do fine with a Titan and 1440, only issue is Crysis 3 and Metro, even then it's just turning down some of the AA which you don't need much of at that resolution. So any of the 780s will be fine as well.

Tell me about it. I'm on the same card. It still rocks medium-high pretty well, but yeah, getting long in the tooth.

Kind of what I want to do, but the 780 is so tempting. By the time the 880 roles around, there will actually be next gen games to buy to really maximize that sort of insane performance. The 780 would still be friggen awesome, though...
