I never really thought about it, but I just put a couple of splats in the middle and let the rest even out.

Dot in the middle and then just natural pressure with the applied fan.

2 years now, still having 27-30 idle temperature, and usually not over 45-50 when playing during summer.

I've always spread it. I usually make a small dot and spread it. I've been doing this for years and it has always worked for me.
