Windows XP installation hangs at a black screen

#1brotrrwinnerPosted 11/3/2013 1:08:45 PM
I'm trying to install Windows XP on an old PC (which already had XP installed and working) but something is not right.

After I boot from the CD, it goes to that blue screen where it just loads a bunch of stuff (a grey bar at the bottom displays what's being loaded) and then instead of going to the screen that let's you install it (or repair the previous installation), it just goes to a back screen with a cursor blinking on the top-left corner and it stays there forever.

Here's a video to better explain what I mean:

The bit at 3:09 when it goes to the installation screen, in my case it just goes black with the cursor blinking. Anyone knows what the problem is?

That just means you can't call Microsoft and ask for help. No one needs Microsoft's help.

Maybe your disc is damaged.

Must have been a corrupted installation disc. Yes, it can happen
