The Korean ones, if you get a pixel-perfect version from a reputable seller, are amazing. I would say they are even better than the well-known name-brand models. This is because their panels are ultra-high end and were manufactured with the intent to be used in $1000 displays such as Apple CinemaDisplay and Samsung displays. (Samsung knows how to make amazing monitors, I'm waiting for an OLED monitor from Samsung). The fact that a few models can be overclocked to 120hz is mind-blowing.

They pretty much perform 3 miracles at once:

1440p monitor for $300
Amazing quality picture
1440p at 120hz
(minimal lag, and I mean none, as these monitors lack any type of hindrances such as monitor software)

I got mine for $289 free express shipping (got here within a week) with about $40 in fees and duties, in Canada.

You got a hell of a deal.

As for affordable 2560*1440 monitors, you could look into those Korean models like the Yamakasi Catleap and others. They go for ~$400. I think Asus and Samsung have pretty good quality monitors around the $700 mark, and they tend to include better stands, support and accessories.

I'm waiting for 8k. Should be the new 1080p.
