1GB just doesn't seem to be enough for most games today (even though that is how much I have). Games are maxing it out a lot of the time.
I need a new card soon.

i chose other as its a gtx590, they claim 3gb but really its 2x1.5gb

Well I have 2 GTX660's, so I have a total of 4gb of memory available in SLI.

SLI/X-fire don't add the memory together. They both need to have the same data in their ram because they're working together to draw the same frame, not taking turns.

You're right about the RAM, but they alternate between drawing frames. It's called AFR.
