Oh man, I lost some karma for offending someone! Let me just set myself on fire right now, might as well get ready for where I'm going!

That would warrant the 6 requirement. The operating system still resides in memory even while gaming.

I got my current computer in 2010 (when it was a medium-slightly high power rig) and it has 8 gigs. My computer is now quite weak and it still has 8 gigs.

ram is dirt cheap and we're in 2013. if you find 8 or so gigs too much to ask then you should play consoles.

it's like people who still run computers from 2006 and whine when they can't handle new games. it makes zero sense. absolutely no sense at all.

Again, the actual numbers ARE NOT THE POINT. The point is they're inflating the requirements artificially for the sake of looking impressive on paper with no good reason to do so.

Win7 can take as little as 500MB though.
Actually played SC2 with Ultra textures on 2GB total system memory.

This is entirely a marketing gimmick because CoD doesn't sell well enough on PC. It makes people think the game is actually demanding and high-end, so people associate it with premium products and think they're getting a better experience.
I'd bet a repack will fix this right up.

And you think the general pc gaming populace would have such a setup? If the game actually needed 4GB of ram, 6GB would be a safe minimum. As we already know the game doesn't need anywhere near that though so the whole minimum requirement of 6GB of RAM is a farce and is incredibly misleading. The devs should feel ashamed. Why would they limit their possible player base? Did they seriously think that pc gamers wouldn't find out what a sham it is?

It's automated. If you have a game that needs 3.5GB of RAM, and only have 4GB, Windows will automatically unload unused components.
It's not for PC gamers, really. Maybe some console kiddies with Steam accounts, but it's mostly so that Console gamers will hear that it needs 6GB of RAM(the penultimate measurement of POWUR) and think that it's the bestest game ever.

Yes but I said 4GB in my example. You can't really have 5GB of ram in a modern system these days. I'm well aware of the basics of memory handling in windows.

Anyways I'm not sure if or what we are arguing about, so carry on.

I bet this RAM requirement will be patched within the month.
