Keep dreaming, I'd rather see Apple take over PC gaming than give a cent to Linux

Ha, i'd rather use Linux over mac any day, even though they are both based on unix, linux is safer and the linux community isn't a bunch of money hungry b******.

So how long until they announce a price for Linux?

Open source doesn't mean you can't sell it. RHEL is a paid distro for example.

The way I see it, you pay for the support, not the software.

If you already own the game for Windows, then you will be able to install it on a Mac or Linux without having to re-purchase it again because Steam recognizes that you already own the game.

Are you sure? Wouldn't they recognize it that you own the game on windows and not linux? Or does the purchase of a title include the ability to play it on all available operating systems? I've never played games on anything other than Windows so I don't know how it works. If so that would be a major boon in SteamOS's success.

Yep. this.

If you buy an older game outside of Steam and then scan the game, would I get its Linux version for free?

I need to try this with Trine

But will it run Foobar2000?

This and there are thousands of old games that will never be natively ported.

No but that is what you can use windows for. I dualboot my PC, and I do everything on Ubuntu, and games on windows. I do this because Ubuntu is 100x the OS that windows is and is quite a bit faster and more secure.

I used Mint for a while on my laptop there where only 2 things that I found really better a) packet manager and system updates and b) that it was lighter on resources but that doesn't matter on my PC because that has enough power unlike the laptop.
