How is GTS 450 equivalent to HD 5870?

#1EternalFlame66Posted 11/8/2013 10:26:57 AM
Was looking at COD Ghosts system requirements and it looks so crap. HD 5870 should be about twice as strong as GTS 450 since it's around the same as an HD 5770 and 5870 is almost twice as strong as that.

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit
CPU: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ / AMD Phenom™ X3 8750 2.4 GHZ or better
Memory: 6 GB RAM
Hard Disk Space: 40 GB
Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTS 450 / ATI® Radeon™ HD 5870 or better
Sound: DirectX compatible sound card
DirectX®: DirectX® 11
Internet: Broadband Internet connection for Steam and Online Multiplayer.

As a person still owning the GTS 450, I must say that I was surprised that it could run games at 1080p at all.

Isn't the 450 just a rebranded 250/9800gtx/8800gtx?

Or was that the OEM GTS 350

The gts 450 is closer to the 5750 than the 5770. The superclocked version is a lot closer to the 5770 though.

It looks like a typo to me (should have been 5770 or 5750), since the 5870 is a completely different beast in the gtx 285-295 brackets. Well, maybe not quite 295 as that's a double.

Sadly my friend has that same minimums on his system. And it finally crapped out on him after 5 years. Then his dad gave him his asus with a phenom 4 and he is seeing major increases across the board. If he wasnt broke and jobless, I would have recommended him a 7850 for all around better performance to last him another 4 years.

Because the new COD has grossly inflated requirements in general?

i don't see how that has anything to do with GTS 450 = HD 5870 though.
