Annoying driver(?) issues with Windows 8

#1jakeDiLLaPosted 11/9/2013 8:27:55 AM
I recently installed Windows 8 on my laptop and consistently run into 2 issues after awaking from sleep:

-There is no sound. I have tried uninstalling + deleting the driver and reinstalling, even with Win 7 compatibility enabled to no avail. Rebooting the computer puts it back to normal, otherwise I can't hear anything. I've tried plugging in headphones and nothing.

-Internet (sometimes) won't work. This is despite me being connected to the wifi network. When I right click on the wifi icon and go to troubleshoot, it ALWAYS shows me this screen "Windows has run into a problem and is collecting information" and I have to restart.

Just uninstall your drivers. Reinstall them, Then if you have trouble, I got nothing.

Yeah... tried that. Nothing. This is a pretty common issue based on my google searches but people solved it by doing just that. Anything else I can try?

The formatting computer part is where I stop in my tracks.. I upgraded to Windows 8 cuz I could keep all my files and whatnot, but there's no way (that I know of) to downgrade and keep everything. I don't wanna lose all my files and settings.

Whatever make and model you have on your laptop, you need to get the Window's 8 drivers.

There aren't windows 8 drivers for it because it was made before Windows 8. Regardless, I don't see why they wouldn't work in compatibility mode

yeah, never had any luck with upgrading windows like that. you are much better off just backing up the files and profiles and doing a full reformat and install.
