Upgradeing 2600k, mobo question.

#1GothmogzPosted 11/9/2013 12:14:45 PM
I have a Asus Maximus IV extreme and a 2600k, if I want to upgrade to 4770k or Hasweel, do I have to buy another motherboard?

Thanks for your time.

Yes and to be honest there's not a ton of reason to upgrade that CPU just yet anyway. Are you unhappy with its performance or do you just feel obligated to upgrade to a newer gen cpu?

Yes, you must change your motherboard.
The i7-2600K uses the LGA 1155 socket. Haswell CPUs such as the i7-4770K use LGA 1150 which is not compatible with LGA 1155.
I agree that the upgrade wouldn't be worthwhile, though.

Got battlefield 4 but even with a titan sometimes it drops ro 40 something on framerate on multiplayer, I thought it was the processor.

The game is having some performance issues with all configurations. It's not just you. There are people with multi-gpu rigs dipping that low.
