Seems like a no brainer for Windows 8. No reason to pay more for an older OS.

ah was mainly seeing if maybe pro uses more resources than needed, but also 8 runs some games a lot smoother too.

The main difference with Pro is that it can join domains, can do remote desktop hosting and has bitlocker available. None of which has any impact on performance.

The upgrade version is $70:

Oh. Thought you meant the full install. Looking to dual-boot 7 and 8 and I already have 7 Pro.

I'm not TC, so I don't know if they were talking about the full install or not.

However, the upgrade version probably isn't worth it anyway, unless you're upgrading from XP (or got it for like $15 back when Windows 8 first came out).

You can still use an upgrade version to do a full install with Windows 8. It's the same workaround that allowed people to use Windows 7 upgrade copies to do full installs. I had to do this when I reformatted a while back. I didn't want to have to reinstall 7 just to upgrade to 8.
