Steam help

#1RainbowstarRSPosted 11/9/2013 4:41:17 PM
I know this is probably a silly question, but I rarely use Steam so I need some help. I was looking in a thrift store today and found a copy of Portal. Inside the case, there was a product code or something inside. I put the disc into my laptop when I got home, put in the code for it to install, but I got the message that said that someone else had already used the code on a different steam account. Is there any other way I can get the game to install?

No. Steam games are single activation and if you see one that has been used before it is worthless and shouldn't have been sold. Portal is currently on sale for $2.50 though

It's probably not a Steam code. We used to use activation codes before Steam existed.

take it back and get your dollar. you can spend that dollar and get multiple games from a humble bundle.
