Need advice on anxiety and games

#1RawePosted 11/10/2013 8:57:37 AM
Ivve put in over 400 hours into Torchlight 2, and never played online with any of my characters, until last night. I traded some legendaries with someone, but I'm not sure if he gave m e gold or not. I wanted these characters to just be offline characters. I'm considering deleting all my characters now because I dunno if this guy has modded or cheated, though he claims he hasn't.

I don't want to have anything to do with cheaters/modders, kinda feelm like the character is wasted now, all that work for nothing.

Even if he didn't cheat or mod, the fact that you traded with someone means it's not the result of YOUR hard work and thus it's null and void. I would recommend either getting over it, or deleting the items and returning to the true path...

(really though, get over it... it's a game. You're not going to be judged in the afterlife because of Torchlight 2)

this isn't anxiety its straight up insanity.

I hope you have medication or at least someone to talk to about your issues.

It's OCD, which is a form of anxiety.

I feel you TC. I don't think my OCD is quite as severe as yours though.

I play games to have fun... not as a second job. If you're seriously worried to the point of wanting to start over because of one trade, then you're past the point of fun and you're definitely in "Second job" territory (assuming of course you have a first one).

The fact you're admitting to having OCD would suggest you know you have a problem. Now the next step would be looking into getting help for that problem. Seriously...if playing games gives you anxiety attacks or otherwise negatively impacts your emotional standing, then I'd see a doctor and get some medication to get rid of that.

I understand being proud of working for something and achieving it, but it sounds to me like you take it too far till the pride for achieving it isn't worth the work you're putting into it. Games are supposed to be fun, not a chore...

Definitely this... You may think you've learned to live with it, but you shouldn't HAVE to live with it.
