Sharing kb/m/monitor between two computers?

#1xLexLuth0rxPosted 11/10/2013 3:55:22 PM
What's the easiest option to do this? I'd like to have both computers up and running and switch on the fly as needed between them. It'll be for a PC and Mac Mini.

I thought I'd seen a switchboard type device where you plug in the various peripherals and then simply toggle them but no luck finding them. Anyone use something they can recommend?

I kinda have this going now, what I do is plug in the keyboard to whichever one I'm using, use a wireless mouse which I have paired with two receivers and one hooked up to the monitor via hdmi and the other dvi.

it kinda works but is annoying to swap the keyboard and sometimes the mouse is glitchy because of the closeness of the receivers when they are both on.

Something like this should work.

They're called KVM Switches if you want to look for any other ones.

I've used KVM switches and honestly IMO they are more trouble than just unhooking everything.

monitor issues, keyboards not working properly... they are a disaster in my experience.

Or, alternatively, you can use this:

I use this with my Windows PC and Mac and it works extremely, extremely well.

That looks interesting. Mind sharing how it works exactly? Is there a need for multiple monitors with that solution?
