Does PC gaming need more triple AAA games?

#21arleasPosted 11/11/2013 4:24:17 PM
What we need is more games that are catering to a specific audience and not trying to appeal to 6 million people all at once. The games I used to love as a kid rarely sold more than 1 million copies. Hell, back in those days, just selling 500,000 was big news.

If AAA means "huge budget that requires 5 million sales to break even" then no... we don't need that at all. I said "no" to this poll because of that....but I am not necessarily saying it has to be Indie. Just not mass marketed casual crap...

No. We need more games in the middle of AAA and indie that aren't considered failures even they go on to sell 5mil copies. I don't need games where half the budget is spent on advertising and the other half is spent on Hollywood voice actors. Don't go crazy with the budget, and put that money towards stuff that actually matters.

This. AAA just means high budget, it says nothing about quality.

Yes, Indie games get boring after 1 hour of playtime, there is a few exceptions though.

The majority of games that are considered "AAA" games by the type of people who would ask this type of question already come out on PC. Battlefield, Call of Duty, Bioshock, Elder Scrolls, Dark Souls, Borderlands, Assassin's Creed, Grand Theft Auto, etc.

If you don't like the "AAA" exclusives that PC already has to offer (Galactic Civilizations III incoming, Civilization, Starcraft, etc,) then that's a discussion of taste.

Stop acting like the PC doesn't get enough high profile games. It does. By a long shot.

Since when is GTA V out on PC? in your mind or what?

It's been confirmed. Derp.

No it hasn't. 99% chance of it coming based on surrounding evidence is unfortunately still not "confirmed". Like how you're actually not hired until you sign that contract, regardless of what your interviewers say.

When AAA games bring me as much entertainment as games like Terraria, Natural Selection, X3 and other such games, sure. Most AAA games these days are boring and repetitive. They don't try to innovate or take any risks. They're stale.

Also, not all games fall into AAA and indie. Indie doesn't necessarily mean games like Super Meat Boy or Rogue Legacy.
