The Starcraft and Halo books are good if you enjoy their lore. The Jake Ramsey Trilogy is probably the best of the bunch.

The first Halo book (Halo: Reach) is really good.

If you like Star Wars, but prefer a more adventure-y angle, both the Han Solo Trilogy and The Han Solo Adventures are excellent.

Republic Commando books by Karen Traviss
The Sprawl Trilogy by William Gibson (if you like that cyber punk sci fi feel)

The best Star Wars novels are the Thrawn trilogy, often considered the true episodes 7,8 and 9. These are by Timothy Zahn.

Another series id recommend is the Wool series. Its not space sci fi but its excellent.

Is it? I thought it was about a powerful being in space who decided he didn't like it being all dark, so then he made light and a bunch of other stuff.

They aren't video game related, but I recommend:
Ender's Game and sequels
Rendezvous at Rama and sequels
Year Zero
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and sequels
The Giver and sequels
Flatland
War of the Worlds
Anthem

A lot of these are probably obvious, but hope that helps.
