X Rebirth? looks interesting.

came across a trailer for it and it looks great, though I'm not exactly sure what type of game it is. Wikipedia says its a "single-player space trading and combat game". is the gameplay like the old PS1 game Colony Wars and N64 game Rouge Squadron.

I'm a BIG Mass Effect universe junkie and need a new galaxy to visit.

Space Trade/Combat Simulator. Like Wing Commander: Privateer, Elite, Freelancer or the upcoming (eventually) Star Citizen.

So is it like Euro Truck Simulator 2 except in space? And some trucks want to kill you?

Never played either of those games.

Basically, the X series in general is a large-scale space 4x game - "explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate." You start with one or two small, basic ships, and play largely how you want. There is a storyline for you to follow if you like. But you fly around to different sectors, trading, shuttling, defending against pirates or becoming one yourself, or whatever. Eventually, you can buy additional ships (which will be run by the AI based on your orders), and can ultimately build your own fleet if you want.

You can become a merchant magnate with a massive trade network... you can build mining and manufacturing complexes and earn your money as a supplier. You can build a massive military fleet and become the biggest pirate or law enforcer around... The series is largely about letting you explore and play how you want.

It has FINALLY arrived.

I've been watching over this game for the past 3 YEARS. The company just kept pushing back the release date... And further.. and further.

Then they released screenshots of a sort of Dance mini-game that would be included in the game.

Funny enough, one of the player's score was 20110401...

Yep, April's fool.

I'm giddy like a schoolgirl struck with BieberFever.

They're releasing it on my birthday.

And here I was hoping for arcade space easy mode combat not having to print out a charmap cheat sheet so I know what button does what with my 100+ controls.

I'm completely joking.
