Can it at least do it in 1080p? The new crysis 3 can be maxed out by most cards today. The old crysis 2007 was a beast.

It wasn't a beast. It's one of the worst optimized games ever created and it's a miracle that Crytek was even able to create such an abomination that looked that good.

No.
The problem isn't the gpu... it's the cpu.

Oh, and I assume, by "Max", you mean turning every option to the highest settings and playing it on a large resolution while maintaining at least 60fps..

tested my single gtx 680 just now and get an average 67 fps running the benchmark in 1080p

EDIT: Sorry, Anti aliasing wasn't maxed, with AA maxed average fps was 44

Is absolutely every option maxed? If you turned anything down at all it doesn't count.

Good thing you asked, i started it up again to make sure and noticed Anti aliasing wasn't maxed out, it's not on the same tab as the rest of the graphics settings for some odd reason., everything else was maxed.
With AA maxed average fps was 44 with the benchmark.

Maxing AA doesn't make any sense, as many games just exclude it because it's pointless. Crysis doesn't have an SSAA option, so I guess you aren't maxing it? What if Crytek patched it to only have FXAA?

4xMSAA is a reasonable benchmark for "maxing", since AA implementation is independent of the games graphics and usually arbitrarily implemented.

8xMSAA is as high as it go.

I typically leave it at 2 or 4x and force FXAA through driver profiles to help smooth things out.
