Get windows 7 or 8?

#21wobbuffet10Posted 11/13/2013 12:25:37 PM
at this point it would be dumb to not get 8. i've had zero issues with it, and any game i've tried has run fine. biggest advantage seems to be it booting incredibly fast, less than 10 seconds from power off to start screen

I don't see boot time as a selling point for Win8. Everything boots fast on an SSD.

Not sure what to tell you. They're under $100 now.

Skip 8. The ~ 10% FPS improvement in a couple of games is not worth the hassle if games straight up not working on windows 8.

Oh yeah? What are all these supposed games that don't work on 8 but work on 7?

Win 9x games, DOS games, etc. Of course, if the games are on Steam that kinda negates it. But I still have a copy of The Neverhood (not re-released), that barely works on 7 let alone working on 8 at all. And I don't feel like re-puchasing my Heritic/Hexen series when I have a perfectly working copy on CD that works on 7 fine but doesn't work on 8.

I also have other older programs that work on 7 and not 8. ( Microsoft Works for one, which has some great templates, and a Mini DV capturing program that doesn't work on 8).

Just some examples.

I've never heard of the specific games you're referencing, but I'm going to have to question your word because Win 9x games as well as DOS games run just like they did in Windows 7.

Which are not games. . .

They run in 7, but barely (without using a VC), and are extremely buggy. There are work arounds that make them work better, but those work arounds aren't available in 8, yet.

No, they are not, but it's a call-back to my original post:

As I said, 8 is the way to go, unless you have need for certain programs (such as I do) that aren't compatible with 8.

I also took issue with 8's account linking for certain programs that keeps me from using multiple accounts on a single program (such as Skype).
