Wireless network keeps dropping. How can I tell if it's the router?

Hi, I have a Netgear RangeMax Wireless router that we've had for about 4 or 5 years now and it's recently started dropping the wireless signal. When I reset the router (unplug it) it will send the signal out for a short time (phone and laptop can connect) but then after a few seconds it drops completely. The signal light on the router is flashing which I believe it has always done.

When the computer is hooked up through cable the internet is fine and doesn't seem to have dropped in speed any, though we were having problems for a few minutes the other day connecting two 360s up to it (wired).

Could someone give me some steps or things to test to tell if it's just my router going out or if it's something to do with my IP?

Thank you for your time.
