Single player game you generally get a somewhat okay-ish story and you can become invested in the characters.

Played GW2 to death. Had to stop back at the end of the summer. Best MMO I played so far.
Played FF14 ARR to level 50 and was bored to tears
Played SWTOR to level 25. If you discount Star Wars elements it's a vanilla MMO
Played POE (I know, not a MMO) for 17 hours and the reality is that by the time to get to Act 2 there is only so much of doing the same over and over again one can do.

I am considering the following MMOs, but not sure if there is still a large active community:

Tera
Rift
Lotro

Anything else that might be different and well populated at this point besides WoW? I really don't want to go that route. Thanks.

Tera is the best MMO out that is F2P. Amazing combat that puts to shame every other MMO out and the graphics are the best ive seen in any MMO.

I really don't see why it's not more popular. Ive only recently started playing it about 3 months ago and i can't see myself going to another MMO unless they do something radical with their combat system.

The reason that most new MMOs arent taking off the way they should is because everyone that plays MMOs usually already have so much time invested into WoW that they dont want to start over with something new. I've played WoW, and I honestly don't see what people see in it. I'm not saying it's a bad game, I just don't find it enjoyable.

I've tried other MMOs over the past few years (DC Universe, Rift, EVE, Infestation: Survivor Stories, and SWToR) and Star Wars and Infestation are the only ones I still have installed.

By no means am i saying that these are amazing games, because they both have their flaws.

Infestation has somewhat of a pay to win measure (you can spend RW money and get better packs, Healing/health items, ammo, and melee weapons) but i've had a lot of fun searching the map for everything.

you've already played SWToR, so i'll not go into that. I will say that the experience is slightly more enjoyable if you're a subscriber (can PvP any time you want and there's no credit restrictions on your character)

It's all just trial and error. Most MMOs have a free to play trial version, but others (like Infestation) I just took a chance on and spent the 15 bucks on steam. Just got to try new ones till you find one you like.

World of Warcraft is the only viable theme park MMO on the market right now.
EVERY SINGLE GAME you listed is just a copy/paste of WoW.

Either wait for Everquest: Next, which is promising to be a sandbox MMO, play WoW, or play EVE Online.
