They've been promising that for forever though.

Until it actually happens I don't think Intel has to worry.

PCs have always been about brute-forcing their way through poorly optimized implementations by means of sheer power.

Performance is mostly a console thing.

As a PC gamer one thing annoys me more than anything on consoles.

Locked graphic settings.

You're shoehorned into low FPS if that's how the developers wanted it. Half the time it's hideous effects like motion blur and badly done shadows that are forced on which kill the frame rate, screw that.

You mean the patch that improved multithreading? And not per-core performance of any processor?

Now, people with AMD GPUs getting Mantle games on the other hand...

AMD will probably never get more performance per core, but I do expect we'll start seeing much more justification for increased scalability over extra cores.
