New Console Specs vs PC?

#1XxTwisted26xXPosted 11/15/2013 7:48:55 PM
So.... how do the new consoles compare?

PS4: 8GB of GDDR5 RAM

x86-64 AMD “Jaguar” eight-core CPU

1.84 teraflop AMD Radeon GPU.

Xbone: 8GB DDR3 + 32MB eSRAM embedded memory

CPU 8 Core AMD custom CPU Frequency: 1.75 GHz

GPU Clock Speed 853 MHz GPU [n]

Storage 500 GB Hard Drive, External Hard Drive [n]

Is this really correct? The CPUs only run at 1.7-1.8 (PC average of 3.5+) and the GPU MHz that low?

The new consoles of course compare very favorably with the now ancient current-gen consoles, but they're not really going to stack up against any decent gaming PC. Of course you will have the odd unoptimized port here and there on the PC, but in general, the PC version of most multi-plats will still be preferable.

The 1.84Tflop AMD GPU is basically a 900mhz 7850.

My 2011 built PC is just a hair under twice as powerful as a PS4. Yes, I paid $1500 for it, but, I saved more than 3 times that much by buying games on Steam sales. PS4 and Xbone are weaksauce compared to what the PS3/360 were at their respective launches. This console gen is shaping up to be one of the most underwhelming in history.

This topic is why nobody takes PC gamers seriously anymore.

You can't compare a car that runs on a road specifically built for it and a car that runs on a freaking goat track.

Except that consoles use PC parts now, and are very directly comparable to PCs this time around.

Exactly, now that peasants with PCs can compare the parts, they still forget that they run on different roads.
