Help me deal with Tech people @ the store?

#1xSoldier24xPosted 11/16/2013 3:28:44 PM
Backstory:
Dropped my laptop on the optical drive side from about 2 feet. After i dropped it i heard a sound close to the hdd hitting something and then a bunch of beeping and parts rubbing against eachother, so its probably hdd failure mixed with some mobo damage.

Heres my situation:
I have a 3 year warranty on it and theirs no exterior damage to it so I should be good. But what would be a reasonable way to explain how this happened? Before I get flamed for this *flameshieldDeployed* the laptop in question is a macbook pro which I use primarily for school and some light gaming. So I'm covered under the apple totalcare warranty. When i take it to the store their going to have their "Genius's" look at my laptop and do their usual fiddling. What should i say? As of now all the information on the hdd has reset and cleared itself out most likely from the drop. So yeah any suggestions on how I can get this to go smoothly?

Why do you have to insult their techs? They're just trying to make a living.

No they're called Genius's in the store. Thats the name their given by Apple. Hence the Genius Station.

But will my honesty void the warranty?

That's irrelevant in my opinion.

Just tell them it stopped working and you're still covered under the warranty.
Be nice. Convey that you're not mad at them or anything. You'd just like a working laptop again.

No need to tell them how it broke unless they asked. lol
