is buying gtx 780 ti sli overkill for single 1080p monitor? or even for 3x 1080p monitor for current gen games like battlefield 4, crysis 3 etc? i currently have gtx 680 sli and skipped gtx titan and 780.

It's overkill upgrading from SLI 680's to SLI 780 Ti's. I keep trying to "talk myself INTO" getting a graphics card but just having one GTX 680, I max almost any game out there in 1080p and get 60fps and above. The few I can't "max" it's usually about toning down the AA a bit. If you aren't going 1440p or 1600p in the near future, that's a huge waste.

Didn't see the 3 monitor part, but for a single one for certain.

Even at 1080p there are some games that require powerful SLI/Crossfire setups to fully max out at. 60 fps.

Even at 120Hz it would probably be overkill.. for a single 60Hz, it's really wasted potential.
Not overkill for 1080x3, though.

Wait... what?

Like? On Crysis 3, the only "sacrifice" I have to make to set my AA to MSAAx2. I love having extra power, but we're still some years off until the average games needs Crysis 3/Metro Last Light specs to run maxed.

i do have 120hz monitor and often play in 3d stereoscopic. i only use single display most of time though because i don't have enough power outlet and have to unplug other stuff everytime i use 3 monitors.

I guess a question to ask is how much VRAM does your 680's have?
